Happy New Year

2012 has come and gone. How was your year? Mine was… meh, some good, some bad. I am hoping that 2013 is a much brighter year. I have decided it is up to me to make sure that happens.

I have made some resolutions for this year. I resolve to eat healthier. I am trying to eat more natural foods and less processed foods so my insides will be pretty. I have also started eating way less meat and embrace other sources of protein. This is easier said than done for me since I am married to a meatasaurus.

I have also resolved to start reading more books again, not on my computer or phone but real books. I sort of got out of practice and when I started reading again I realized how much I missed it. Nothing like curling up with a nice glass of tea, a blanket and a great book. I find this relaxes and soothes me.

So what are your resolutions for this year? Also, a very belated Merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year!

Disneyland and weather

As noted before, we went to Disneyland in early November. The kids had an amazing time! They all really loved Space Mountain and Star Tours. My youngest daughter had a mini coronary on Big Thunder Mountain  when her lap bar wasn’t down far enough and she got slammed around in her chair . My oldest daughter freaked out a little at the hill on Splash Mountain. My boys went on everything but did scream like a couple of small girls on a few rides haha. Michael had never been there before and he had fun causing trouble all day. I think we got in almost every ride that was open except for the submarine and It’s a Small World because it was closed for the day.

I haven’t been there in years so they had revamped quite a few rides. The most noticeable one was the Haunted Mansion. They added a whole bunch of stuff from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I loved the changes!

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and are enjoying the Christmas season. We finally have beautiful weather. It’s the payoff for enduring the summer heat. Here is a picture I shot of the sky the other day. Gorgeous eh?

Memorial Day

I am a huge believer in peace. I am anti-war in 99% of situations. I am also a firm believer in supporting the brave hard working men and women that make up our armed forces.

Thank you to all of those parents, brothers, sisters, friends, etc who lay their life on the line each day. Thank you to all of the military people that are “unseen” but are integral parts of keeping the rest of us safe. Thank you to all of the men and women who bravely served in previous wars. Thank you to all of the families who miss their loved ones so I can enjoy the freedoms and protections I do today. Thank you to all the men and women who didn’t make it home, we haven’t forgotten you.

I hope as you all are having your BBQs and gatherings you take a moment to remember what this day is really about. If you want to do something extra and see this message in the next 24 hours, Ree is giving a $1 donation to Operation Homefront on behalf of anyone that comments in the next 24 hours with a thank you message to the troops. It only takes a moment.

Summertime, Mother’s Day, & TLPD

I know it’s not officially here until mid-June, but summer is here in the desert. Three weeks ago it bumped into the 100+ degree temperatures. Murphy and his annoying laws like to torment me, so of course my central air conditioning died.  One of my biggest annoyances is trying to sleep while sweating. It’s just so gross. All of the fans in the world don’t fix 100+ temperatures.

*Super husband enters to save the sweat deluged princess* He announces that for Mother’s Day I am getting a new A/C. We did a little research because we are trying to lower our enormous electric bill in the summer. We decided on a window A/C unit for the living room. We purchased a medium sized one and hub installed it. What a wonderful present. I am so thankful to have it.  Not only am I nice and cool but our energy intake has gone down. We also went to the park with my parents for Mother’s Day and had a nice BBQ.  It was nice and cool and relaxing.

In other news, I am camping Time-Lost Proto Drake in WoW. *facepalm* Not sure why I would subject myself to that but I am. 4 days in so far and I have only seen it once. 5 Vyragosa kills. I did get my Frostbitten achievement yesterday. Loque’nahak was my final kill.  Sorry hunters lol.

I hope everyone is enjoying their springtime 🙂

Zoya and Happy New Year!

So the new year came and went uneventfully for me. Usually on new year’s day we make a giant breakfast and watch the Rose Parade. Well not this year. The Rose Parade doesn’t air on Sundays. Everyone in the universe knew this but me. They instead held it on Monday the 2nd. I guess that is what happens when you have a national tradition that is 123 years old, literally. It is interesting how old fashioned rules still effect us today. Kind of charming actually.

In other news….

Until January 9 at midnight, Zoya is having a promotion on their site to get two free polishes if you pay shipping (mine was $6.95). They have amazing polish in gorgeous colors so I figured it was worth mentioning. You can find their official post here . Want to try Zoya but have no idea where to start? Here are some links to polish swatches so you can see some of them in action.
